PROGRAM NOTE

Two Bodies Spin is dedicated to the symbol of my astrological sun sign, Pisces. Traditionally the symbol shows two fish tied together by their tails, but it is also depicted as two fish swimming in opposite directions, encircling each other like an ouroborous. To represent that cycle, the text and the music are like a palindrome, meaning that they follow the same sequence forwards and backwards.
 

While my interest in astrology waxes and wanes, I have always found spiritual comfort in the Pisces symbol and its portrayal of duality. It reminds me that joy always exists alongside sorrow, stillness always exists alongside turbulence, and I can find stability somewhere in the middle of it all.
