PROGRAM NOTE

Eucalyptus is a piano solo consisting of four miniatures. I was inspired by the many pairs of leaves on a eucalyptus plant, growing upwards on the stem as a structure that feels both evolving and self-referential. For this reason I composed movements 2-4 based on only the pitches, rhythms, and phrases in movement 1.
