Eucalyptus (2025)
for solo piano; 6.5 min
premiered by Fidan Aghayeva-Edler as a part of the 24-hour Piano Marathon by Women Composers (5/17)
PROGRAM NOTE

Eucalyptus is a piano solo consisting of four interrelated miniatures, each one branching out from a shared musical core. Inspired by the appearance of a eucalyptus branch— with pairs of leaves growing upwards along a stem— I sought to create a musical structure that feels both evolving and self-referential. This work reflects on the vibrancy and fragility of growth.
Deiopea was commissioned by Timothy Hanley.
